Another London Road: Community Planning Event
When - Tuesday 22. July from 7:00pm until 9:00 pm .
Where - Calvary Church, Viaduct Road (next to the Fire Station) .
Organised by - Another London Road.
St James Investment are buying up property in the London Road area. In other towns where this has happened, plans for new Tesco stores have followed.
Now St James Investment are talking of revitalising the London Road area with a proposal that includes a Tesco store that will be at least 4x the size of the Sainsbury store behind Brighton train station and parking for up to 1000 cars.
But this is not a done deal. Brighton and Hove City Council own several properties that are key to St James Investment/Tesco's proposal and planning permission has not yet been granted.
Tuesday's Community Planning Event will be opportunity for members for the community to meet and discuss with each other, as well as with local councillors, members of Planning Aid and local architects Camillin Denny, alternative ideas for London Road. These ideas will become part of a community led vision for the area that reflects our needs and interests, rather than those of big business and distant shareholders.
